Safiya and Muyaka

OCs from a story I'm working on.

Muyaka was born beneath the crimson light of a lunar eclipse, something that was seen as an ill omen by the rest of the pride. There were some who felt he should be killed immediately, but right from the start his mother Adimu was fiercely protective of him. She gave him an honourable name partially out of spite and partially because she truly believed her son was destined only for greatness. Adimu had always been a vicious and quick tempered lioness but Muyaka was the apple of her eye and she doted on him. He was and still is very much a momma's boy, loyal to her always. Especially when, as a cub, he was caught in a wildfire that left him marked on his hind quarters and burned the tuft from his tail. Adimu cared for him and nursed him back to health, despite repeated instance from others to end his life.

Being ostracized by most of the pride meant that Muyaka had little in the way of friends and would often have to find ways to entertain himself. His favourite thing was exploring and one day, whilst doing so, he stumbled across a hyena cub around the same age as him. Her name was Safiya, the daughter of Chriki, a shaman hyena queen. The two became good friends and when Muyaka eventually met Safiya's mother, the mystical queen took a great interest in him. She saw potential in him, granted to him by the blood moon that shone on his birth, and she would help him kindle that power.

So this is basically just a pic of Muyaka and Safiya hanging out.
