Their Past [tiaverse]

an old post I decided to finish writing for

1: Celestia gifted the apple family tons of land to grow their crops. They were some of the first settlers in what would become Ponyville. They were all very grateful for this gift, especially Granny Smith. Thought back in her youth, her name was Maria Smith. There wasn't a power dynamic between them, if anything, Celestia enjoyed this "down-to-earth" lifestyle she had when she hung around Maria.

2: They both struggled with the fact that they had a crush on each other. Maria was expected to wed... well, anyone but the princess. The acres were going to be hers one day, and she was suggested to find a strong stallion. Celestia couldn't believe how in love she was with this simple earth pony, one piece of grain in an ocean of pony citizens. What would Luna think? Her subjects? She had never worried about a relationship until now.
Despite their inward struggles, they always found a way to continue seeing each other. Celestia never wanted to be in the castle, and Ponyville was constantly graced with her presence. Their friendship grew, as well as their love.

3: So to the surprise of neither of them, they started a relationship in secret. Nopony was any the wiser, because... no, the princess just wouldn't do that. So they lived their lives like this. Celestia; the young but still rebellious new princess, and Maria Smith; the workaholic who took no attitude, they spent lots of time together. Celestia could teleport them everywhere and anywhere, just the two of them. And Maria continued her life like this, all the way into her old age. Her hairs were gray and thin, while Celestia's was becoming more colorful and blossoming into a flowing pattern. Tia knew her days were numbered, but neither of them spoke about it. They just continued on like they would everyday, until one day... there was nopony waiting for Tia on the other side of the acres fence.

4: Mortality. The one thing Celestia knew she would struggle with. She was warned by Star Swirled that she would witness this many, many times. She was at the funeral in her pony disguise, and she mourned in solitary. Her first introduction to love, life and death. To this day, nopony knows about this relationship. She will never tell anyone, not Luna, Thorax, Novo, nobody. She will take it to her grave.
